What Is Hypnotherapy?
The combined influences of Hollywood and tabloid sensationalism have created some misconceptions about hypnosis.

I thought it might be interesting for you, the reader, to understand what hypnosis is. Hypnosis is a relaxed state of focus and concentration. Hypnosis is not sleep although it is so relaxing you could drift off to sleep. It is not being unconscious. It is not magic although some people feel it is magical. The term hypnosis derives from the Greek word Hypnos which means sleep. But that is as far as it goes.

We all experience hypnosis every day.
Are you surprised?
You know the feeling before you drift off to sleep at night?
You know the feeling of ‘zoning out’?
Remember being totally engrossed in a book or a movie and were oblivious to the world around you?
Have you ever missed your exit on the freeway because you ‘spaced out’?
These are all examples of a hypnotic state.

The conscious mind is where we have logic, reasoning, will power and decision making. It uses 12% of the mind’s power. The subconscious mind is where we store memories and experiences in life. It makes up 88% of the mind’s power. So, for example, you tell yourself you want to relax but the subconscious mind says “Are you kidding? This situation stresses me out!”

It is difficult to convince the part of your mind that resists change to bypass your previous stressed out experience. This is where hypnosis comes in.

By relaxing your attention without the distractions of everyday life, you can change the subconscious mind by using the new message of being more calm and comfortable.

In 1955 Support for the therapeutic use of hypnosis in medicine was realized by the British Medical Association. In 1958 The American Medical Association supported hypnosis. In 1957 the Catholic Church approved hypnosis. Today, as we know, the benefits of hypnosis are limitless. For example, top athletes use the techniques of hypnosis. The professional Golfer Tiger Woods uses self hypnosis to enter "the zone” at will, as many other pros. It is the surest path to consistency, and better scores. A golfer for example can stay focused, relaxed, increase speed and accuracy.

Hypnosis can boost your Immune System, and help with skin problems. Hypnosis can help you relax; stop the panic, anxiety and troubling thoughts and “what ifs” that are associated with this most distressing fear and get you back on the road.

Hypnosis can help people feel better about themselves, achieve their goals, release old negative patterns, and discover better ways to cope with challenges. It can also help you deal with issues like habit control, insomnia, weight problems, bed wetting, past life regression, sports performance, pain management pre and post surgery preparation, grief and loss, and goal setting. She can also work on memory, concentration, self-esteem, goal-setting, and sexual relationship enhancement.

Imagine using this amazing ability to improve your life.
