Jennifer began her love of movement as a child, when she studied dance (tap and ballet). During high school she moved into jazz dance and continued into college. Although she still remained active she turned her focus to the business world as she studied first for her bachelor’s degree and then her MBA.
It wasn’t until the year 2000 that she discovered the world of yoga. Although she was first attracted to yoga for the physical benefits (increased flexibility and strength) she soon discovered she was able to still her busy mind and gain an INNER strength. As Jennifer learned more about proper alignment she was able to heal herself and alleviate decades old back, neck and shoulder pain. She began teaching in 2006, studying vinyasa flow under internationally known yoga master teacher Annie Carpenter, who is known for her expertise in anatomy and alignment.
Jennifer uses her knowledge to heal and empower her students; she also utilizes pranayama (the breath or life force) and meditation to center and still the mind. Jennifer has personally experienced the power yoga has to help one overcome obstacles. She is a breast cancer survivor and used yoga to maintain her physical and inner strength as she moved through months of aggressive chemo therapy and several surgeries. Jennifer is a Yoga Alliance registered instructor and has plans to continue her studies with Annie Carpenter in early 2011. She also enjoys volunteering her time to teach yoga to 4th and 5th graders. When she’s not teaching, practicing or thinking about yoga, Jennifer is busy taking care of her three small children, ages 12, 10 and 6.
